This Maui, HI Developed UVC Pass-Through
Device Disinfects Cards & Documents
Maui, HI based Fifth Element UVC LLC has launched an ultraviolet
germicidal light known as the Multipass for use when passing cards or
documents from one person to another.
UVC light has been extensively researched and utilized in
places like hospitals to disinfect against 99.9% of viruses and
bacteria such as staphylococcus aureus, e. coli, tuberculosis,
and influenza.
The technology is not new and has been in use
for decades.
Owing to the potentially harmful
effects of UVC light on skin and
eyes, it has not been more widely
deployed in the past.
The Multipass was developed to offer
a safe pass-through device that can
decontaminate cards, passports and
documents without causing harm to
users.
The new Multipass is 12 inches long and 8 inches high with a
pass-through slot in the middle.
The slot contains two 254nm
ultraviolet light beams that irradiate
the surface of anything passed
through.
Owing to the proximity of the light beams in the
Multipass, any object passed through will receive
an extremely high dose of UVC light that quickly
sanitizes surfaces against 99.9% of contaminants.
The Multipass is suitable for use in any situation where items
must be passed from one person to another.
Bank Tellers, TSA agents, school
students and teachers, hotel check-in
staff and retail cashiers all handle
documents passed from people many
times a day.
The risk to these people can be
greatly reduced with use of the
Multipass.
