Update on 2010´s Income Tax Brackets in Costa Rica

You will find information below on taxes in Costa Rica. This tax news advisory is sent to you on behalf of Arias &
Muñoz to assist you in complying with your tax obligations.
On October 21st, the Official Newspaper published Executive Decrees Nos. 35546-H y 35547-H that updated a
progressive table of amounts and the corresponding rates applicable for the 2010 tax period on both income tax
(from individuals and companies) and salary tax.
The progressive table for salary tax is the following:

Up to ¢ 619,000 monthly
Exempt
From ¢ 619,000 to ¢929,000 monthly
10%
From ¢ 929,000 monthly
15%
The tax credits applied to this tax period in 2010, will be:
1. Each child, ¢1,170 monthly.
2. Partner/spouse ¢1,730 monthly.
The progressive table for an individual’s income tax will be:

Exempt
From ¢ 2,747,000 to ¢ 4,102,000 annually
10%
From ¢ 4,102,000 to ¢ 6,843,000 annually
15%
From ¢ 6,843,000 annually to ¢13,713,000 annually
20%
Excess of ¢ 13,713,000 annually
25%
The tax credits applied to this tax period in 2010 will be:
1. Each child, ¢14,040 monthly.
2. Partner/spouse ¢20,760 monthly.
The table for companies’ income tax will be:
