In August 2019, the selling of these bonds netted the County $66.1 million. An additional $1.4 million of ad valorem funds was carried over from FY18, thus providing a total of $67.5 million available for acquisition of approved ELAPP sites. Since March 2019, staff has acquired two approved ELAPP parcels and is currently in negotiations to acquire thirteen additional parcels. 2018 ELAPP Internal County Audit – Phase II Primary Management Recommendations – Barth Associates, Inc. Increase annual Prescribed Fire performance objectives from 3,700 acres to 9,142 acres on ELAPP lands. In order to meet this objective, the CELM Department requested FY20- 21 funding to establish a dedicated Prescribed Fire Team that will: 1) increase the Department’s ability to meet the referenced ecological objective over the next several years; 2) improve public safety by reducing the threat of wildfires in the ever increasing wildland-urban interface and 3) limit the County’s financial liability by reducing wildfire risk on ELAPP lands.
