Do Not Impose Your Religion On Me

If your faith comforts you-mazeltov!
If you find solace in difficult times from your religion-congratulations!
But the 1st Amendment guarantees that no religion will be imposed on anyone-
ever.
Yet, there are now several states trying to force the 10 commandments, bible
study and the concept that jesus or christ “is king”.
What?? We don’t have kings in the United States. That’s one of the reasons we
fought England for our freedom. We also fought for religious freedom, which
includes not believing or practicing in any religion at all.
There are millions of agnostics and atheists in America. And millions more like
me, who believe in a variety of higher powers-plural. So this whole movement of
trying to impose the warped, insistent form of Christianity on millions who know
it is not acceptable, needs to to stop.
How dare anyone try to force any religion on anyone you ask? Well, it’s happening
all over the country. And, the perpetrators are some of the most immoral,
unethical, lawless, elitist phonies I’ve ever come across. Who would take on their
advice or opinions, when they publicly behave abominably? What an absurd idea !
Child molesters, animal abusers, wife-beaters, rapists, frauds & felons…all
defaming the wearing of a cross for all to see.
Stay out of my life. Stay out of my community. Stay out of my country. Go ind
another land where you can impose whatever you’d like-not here.
I remember when I left Catholicism at the door. I was all of 6, & the mortal sin of
eating meat on Friday had just been rescinded. And, so I asked Sister Mary
Thomas: “If that was your only mortal sins, & now it’s not, can you leave hell
now, & is it retroactive?” She smacked me across the face, & that was the end of
organized religion for me. She had no answer & neither does the church.

Even the kinder souls who have meant well saying during tough times “Oh, god’s
testing you”. Really?? He doesn’t spend time curing childhood cancer, stopping the
abuse of animals, preventing women from being trafficked, or smiting the
destructive dictators & psychopaths worldwide? He’s wasting his time hassling a
woman who’s been honorable for nearly 70 years?? What gives with your god??
I am also a very spiritual woman. I’ve experienced magic, visits from spirits,
synchronicity, and divine intervention. From different sources-not one god. So, my
beliefs are strong & they comfort me, as religious people say as well. The
difference? I don’t impose what I believe on anyone. It’s personal, & nobody else’s
business.
Please keep your rabid insistence at bay. We all draw comfort & solace from
different sources. The point is to live well, which never includes forcing anything
down someone else’s throat, or threatening them if they don’t behave as you do-
god forbid!
