The firm specialises in marrying high tech machinery with traditional engineering techniques. At the Dietech workshop, metals are drilled, grinded, turned or otherwise treated to exact specifications before being sent out to destinations as varied as Norwegian fishing boats; heavy-duty vehicle plants in China and the Coca Cola Company. The firm itself is not yet four years old, however it has 60 plus years of precision engineering experience in the form of company directors Mike and Ian Clayton. It was Mike who, via the Blackburn with Darwen DDU, approached us about implementing an improved office/documentation system. Success was placing extra demands on the organisation which required swift action. Joe Norris and ML; following discussions with Mike and a walk around the workshop; began design on a software system and approach which specifically catered for the needs of Dietech. Within three weeks a working document flow system was in place in the Dietech office. The system is now used in Dietech to generate all invoices and delivery notes and also acts as a collection of company records. Mike established the greatest asset of the new system was the image with customers, “When you have invoices that look professional, and are clear in what they refer to, chances are you’re more likely to get paid sooner.” Mike acknowledged that this has been particularly relevant in regards to queried jobs, “Previously, if a firm was querying a job, we didn’t get paid for any work we had done for them because it was unclear where the query was coming from on the invoice. With the system in place we are able to get paid for anything we have done for the firm that isn’t being queried.” As a direct result of THE PROFESSIONAL FORMAT and TRACEABILITY of ML’s FirstBase System, Dietech have been able to get payments from customers much quicker. Mike has also found that an ML employee is always only a phone call away to make any changes to the system that he might want. “There was a second printable document that came with the generation of delivery notes that I didn’t want. I expressed my concerns to Joe who just came in and got rid of it.” The FLEXIBILITY and PERSONAL SERVICE from ML has allowed Dietech to have a system catered to their requirements in a way no off-the-shelf system could. To this day, Dietech remain a happy FirstBase user.
