Page 1 of 1 999.doc Last Revision: 9/20/07 TUFF-BOY 999 WATER-BASE DRY FOG FLAT PRODUCT PROFILE DESCRIPTION Tuff-Boy 999 Water-Based Dry Fog Flat is a high hiding coating formulated for interior application via conventional or airless spray equipment only. This coating will not yellow, is low VOC, and has no harmful solvent odor which will allow one to spray in areas while people are still working. Tuff-Boy 999 will reduce lighting requirements and is ideal for commercial and industrial areas where dry overspray characteristics are desired. Overspray from Tuff-Boy 999 does not stick, but falls to the floor as a dry dust which may be swept up without damaging the surfaces on which it has fallen. A small test area should be tried before spraying a large area to make certain that overspray does not stick to the floor. Sometimes unusual conditions exist such as excessively high humidity, that could make overspray stick to uncovered surfaces. Because Tuff-Boy 999 is a water- based dry fall coating, a large amount of moisture is released into the atmosphere during application. Proper ventilation is required to ensure that humidity levels do not increase to the point that dry fall no longer occurs. TYPICAL USE This product is recommended for properly prepared interior ferrous or galvanized metal, aluminum, wood or masonry surfaces. Tuff-Boy 999 is ideal for use on large commercial ceilings such as those found in manufacturing, warehouse or industrial areas. This product is also suitable for use on properly prepared structural steel, piping, beams, girders, or trusses. PRIMERS Primers are not normally needed on interior applications. If the ceiling to be painted is to be exposed to excessive moisture or mild chemical fumes then we recommend that one prime ferrous metal surfaces with Tuff-Boy Rust Stop Primers (#1024 Red or #1069 Gray). Prime aluminum and galvanized, surfaces with #5-56 100% Acrylic DTM Primer. SURFACE PREPARATION The surface to be painted should be dry and free of any dirt, chalk, loose or peeling paint, grease, mildew, oil, rust, or other foreign contaminants. Repair/Caulk all cracks prior to painting. New galvanized surfaces normally have an oily residue that must be removed prior to painting. If you have any questions about proper surface preparation check your surface preparation guide or consult your Farrell-Calhoun representative. Always test a small sample area to ensure that there are no adhesion problems before painting large areas.
