Many of us have a defeatist attitude.
You know, the sort where you have already decided deep down that you cannot achieve
SOMETHING even before you began work on it. This is a serious blight and impediment on our
consciousness, as it is SELF-LIMITING. And even before you meet challenging circumstances,
distractions, or nay-sayers, you have already met with the greatest enemy of all, yourself.
Our minds are likened to many things. Of the various possibilities, one of the closest would be
the computer. Our minds can be programmed, de-programmed, installed, uninstalled, activated,
and deactivated, almost at will. The switch rests within our attitudes and desires. One of the most
crucial things you need to do right away is to assess your position and attitude. Where exactly do
you fall into?
Often, we practise a potentially self-limiting technique of auto-sabotage on ourselves. This form
of trickery involves turning ourselves into unwitting collaborators of failure, or clueless
saboteurs of our true potential and capabilities. How then must we overcome this? Can it be done?
Of course it can! Such is the poignant irony of it all. Most people walk or literally crawl through
life living a limited life. If only they realise there is so much they could do or could have done to
free themselves from their limitations! How is this possible?
First, begin by accepting the fact that you are imbued with a destiny. You have a gift to offer the
world; and you can impact others, even generations.
Next, avoid putting yourself down. Practise self-discipline; don't project negativity on others
around you and don't wallow in less-than-positive circumstances. Be proactive, not reactive.
Then, speak words of affirmation to yourself. How you are going to rise up to a certain challenge.
How the little steps you take towards reaching your goal are achievable and meaningful.
